Hello! KU LGBT+ is here to represent all individuals who self-identify as LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and individuals with varying gender and sexuality identities).

KU LGBT+ aims to give a louder voice to the LGBT+ community here at Kingston University & Union of Kingston Students, bring LGBT+ people together, educate, and *facilitate a positive safe space and non-discriminatory space for students to socialise, and to run student-led campaigns that can better LGBT+ life at Kingston.
*The Kingston LGBT+ Society has the duty of providing a safe space for LGBT+ students every week during the academic year. Membership to the LGBT+ Society is £3
Membership to KU LGBT+ (Community) is free! Membership in the group is anonymous and your information will not be shared.
Under the NUS LGBT+ Standing Order, the following states who can formally join KU LGBT+:
3. Individual Members who self-identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bi and/or Trans or Undecided/Questioning or Queer, or who self-define as any other marginalised romantic/sexual orientation or gender identity (including but not limited to Asexual, Pansexual, Bigender, and Genderqueer), or who choose not to define their romantic/sexual orientation or gender identity shall be considered the Members of the Campaign.
4. For the avoidance of doubt, ‘Queer’ does not include heterosexual, non-trans people."
The LGBT+ representative has the responsibility to attend various meetings (such as the Student Council) and will send out regular communications via e-mail or social media to keep you informed of updates such as upcomming events or campaigns. Your LGBT+ Representative for 2019/20 is Shane Simpkin.
