AGMs, Elections & Handovers : WHAT WILL I FIND HERE?

Here you will find all the information about what an AGM is, why they are important as well as how to do elections and effectively pass over your society to the next generation. It is highly recommended to read through the material on this page so that you can make informed decisions while leading your society.
If you don't understand the procedures or want advise about building an effective timeline to achieve a successful election then reach out to the Societies Development Coordinator, you can contact them at societies@kingston.ac.uk.

AGM stands for Annual General Meeting, this is an event every society must perform within the designated time-frame set out by the Societies Office. This event is where you elect the committee for the next academic year.
In preparation for the AGM you should have released a statement to the members that the AGM is upcoming as well as which 4 to 6 roles can be applied for and what they entail. Your goal is to have a successful election of the new committee, this means you need a minimum of 10 votes in the election or if you have less than 10 members you would then need to have a majority of members voting. In order to run for a position or to vote in the election the student must be a paying member of the society.
All voting must be done through the Societies Office so please keep them in the loop of applicants and when you would like the vote to go live. Please read teh following documents as everything mentioned above doesn't cover everything you will need to do or know for elections.
