The Union of Kingston Students is pleased to announce the inaugural showdown between The Kingston Cougars and The City Wolfpack.

This year’s varsity sees Kingston University compete against City University in 15 matches over two days of sporting action. Kingston v City varsity event is the newest addition to the list of Varsity competitions in existence across the UK, and we invite you to come along and support your fellow Kingston students as we battle City for the Thames Varsity.   

Tickets go on sale at 9 am Wednesday 8th March via the Students' Union website. There are 500 tickets available for Varsity this year, so make sure you grab yours before they sell out. All tickets include; transport to and from Penrhyn Road to either CitySport and/ or Tolworth Sports Ground, a limited edition Varsity T-shirt, Entry to The Mill, VIP queue jump to the Varsity after-party at Przym nightclub and 50% off Domino’s pizza voucher from our sponsor.

Varsity Day 1 – Tuesday 28th March 2017
All sports except for mixed squash and mixed hockey are taking place at CitySport, 124 Goswell Road, EC1V 7DP. Student supporters and athletes will need to purchase a ticket to attend day one. Transport will be provided to CitySport for both day ticket holders. Tickets for the Tuesday and Wednesday combined are £12.50

  • Men’s Volleyball, 15:30 – 17:30
  • Women’s Basketball, 17:45 – 19:45

Varsity day 2 - Wednesday 29th March 2017
All sports are taking place at Kingston University’s Tolworth Court sports ground, Old Kingston Road, Tolworth, KT4 7QH. Student supporters and athletes will need to purchase a ticket to attend day two. Tickets for just Wednesday are £10.

  • Men's Football 2nd's 12:00 - 14:00
  • Netball 1st 14:00 – 15:30
  • Netball 2nds 12:30 - 14:00
  • Rugby Union Mens 1st, 16:00 – 18:00 (FINALE)
  • Women’s Tennis, 10:00 – 13:30
  • Men’s Tennis, 10:00 – 13:30.

Give-it-a-go sports
On day two, supporters will also have the opportunity to try:

  • Flag American Football, 12:00-14:00
  • Lacrosse, 12.00 –14.00
  • Ultimate Frisbee, 12.00 –14.00
  • Zorb Football, 13.00 – 15.00
  • Touch Rugby, 14.00 –16.00
  • Gaelic Football, 14.00 – 16.00.

These fun and friendly sessions are for complete beginners, so students do not need to worry if they have not played before. To take part, students are advised to wear comfortable clothing and trainers.

Food, drink and entertainment
DJs will be playing throughout the day, and food and drink will be available to purchase. Please note that food outlets will be cash only and that no alcohol is allowed to be brought onto the site. Alcohol will be available to purchase from the Pavilion and bars around the venue.

After party at The Mill & Przym
Continue the celebrations by joining us for a Varsity celebration at The Mill from 20.00 to 00.00, followed by Przym at 00:00 until the early hours of the morning, with a DJ playing throughout the evening and special offers on selected drinks.
